Planning Application

28th October 2007: The planning application is being reviewed following Government policy changes. Please resubmit your planning application objection before 7th November 2007.

The planning application consulatation has ended.

This page will serve as information on the planning application for the incinerator in Newhaven. The Councils currently enjoy referring to this as an "Energy Recovery Facility" (ERF). Other jargon includes "Energy from Waste" (EfW). These fancy terms refer to plants that burn things: incinerators.

The consultation period started on 2/12/2005 and ended 27/01/2006. However it is still worth sending comments in by post if you wish to do so. You can get a Planning Application CD from ONYX, free of charge. Please also see our page on calling in the WLP.

Planning Application Objection Letter by Chris Chatwin - Updated 20 January 2006 - A massively detailed letter from the Chairman of DOVE outlining multiple objections to the planning application. Many ideas for letter writing here, especially the summary points at the start. If you've already sent a letter in but have new points to submit, you can send another letter to the Council.

Economic Impact Assessment on the Incinerator for Newhaven - This report highlights the damaging effects the incinerator would have on the much vaunted regeneration of Newhaven.

Waste Local Plan, Proof of Evidence - Another large document pointing out many problems with the Waste Local Plan as it stands.
